Giveaway Photoshoot

So a couple of weeks ago I did a giveaway for a free photoshoot session and I just did the shoot with everybody and it turned out pretty dope. We met up at an abandoned location that’s right next to my house but it makes for a pretty cool spot. I tried to direct a little more this time and really try and catch the vibe I was going for.

The “Hollow” preset will be available soon in the Winter Preset Pack!

I figured I would use this shoot as a way to try out different edits, I’ve been messing around a lot more in the calibration module in Lightroom and I’ve been coming up with some pretty cool results. It was a cloudy day so the light was really soft and that helped keep the shots evenly lit and looking good.

I shot these with a GH4 and a 30mm f1.4, I stuck with that setup for the whole shoot I just wanted to see what I could do with one setup. I tried to get a little creative with my composition and that’s something I’m really trying to get better at. I think strong compositions are an amazing way to give off a feeling in a picture.

It’s cool to see all the different kinds of shots you can get with just one setup. I like to try new things when I go out and shoot and limiting myself like that gives me a challenge while I’m shooting. This building had a couple cool spots surrounding it so we climbed up this fire escape to get some dope pics lol. That’s another part I love about photography and cinematography is the desire to explore and try new things.

2019 is right around the corner and I want to challenge myself and push myself harder than I ever have and I want you guys to do the same as well. Go out and shoot as much as you possibly can and try different things every time you go out. Work on composition, lighting, posing, etc. You can only get better and the more you shoot, the better you’re going to get. Finding Your Style

Finding your own style can be pretty difficult, especially if your just starting out. You haven’t tried much so you’re trying everything that you can and trying to figure out what you like. Obviously I went through the same thing that’s why I want to go over it with you guys.

Finding your own style is definitely going to take you awhile. Don’t look at that as a bad thing though because it’s a journey and it’ll teach you a lot. I’m still trying to perfect my style and I’m always trying new things to figure out what I like. For example I tried editing in a different style than I normally do and I’m going to stick with editing that way now. If you’re not trying new things you’re not learning and that’s clearly just going to hold you back.

My best advice to finding your own style is to look at other peoples work that you admire, take different bits and pieces of everything that you like, and try and recreate it. Get out there and shoot as much as you can because the more you shoot, the better you’re going to get. Practice as much as you can and edit the same picture 5 different times and see what you like.

Work as hard as you can.

I hope this helped you guys! Be sure to sign up for the God Media Newsletter by scrolling all the way down on any page, typing in your name and email, and hitting sign up. The Winter Lut Pack is coming soon as well. These images were edited with the Crisp lut! Take it easy you guys and keep creating.

Y-S 1 Minute Freestyle

I’ve been working with my boy Y-S for over a year now and it’s always awesome working together. We just shot a promo video recently and we decided to shoot a short freestyle clip for a song on his album More Musix called “Pray 4 Me”. Check it below

We shot this in my neck of the woods in Ashland at an abandoned building that’s right next to my house. I love the look of this building as well as the lighting. The windows just make for beautiful light and the atmosphere really sets the mood for the video.. You can expect the promo video to have a similar feel to the freestyle when it drops we worked hard on it and I’m really excited for you guys to check it out.

Push Yourself…

Y-S is hard at work and you guys should be looking forward to his next release, I’m not sure when or what he’s got coming but he assured me he’s grindin’. Everytime we shoot together I try and push myself and try new things and on this shoot I just really wanted to take my time. That’s a very important thing to do sometimes. I’ve really been trying to be the absolute best that I can be and taking your time can make such a significant difference in the quality of your work. I can’t wait for you guys to see what I got coming in the future and remember if you would like to book a shoot go ahead and hit me up via the contact page!
