Behind The Scenes "Stargazing"

Alright so I wanted to give you guys an inside look into a video I just shot called “Stargazing”.

So it started snowing I think around noon on the day of the shoot and we were shooting in Columbus which is about an hour and a half drive for me. I was on my way there and I had to go like 35 on the highway, by the time I finally got down there the roads were even worse.

We went ahead and shot the first scene at J.A.I.’s apartment. I lit it with a Viltrox portable LED light to backlight him, and a quasar science tube as the key light. We brought in a smoke machine and it ended up adding a lot of depth to the couch scenes and overall made it look more cinematic.

The second scene was just right outside the apartment, we ended up kind of getting the scene together on the fly and I had J.A.I. stand in the bed of an F-150 while my friend Scene waved the LED back and forth for a pretty unique look. After that we headed to the final location which was a completely empty parking lot. It ended up being perfect for what I had in mind because we had the space to do it. I got the generator out and held up two quasar science tubes behind the car to act as a backlight and just for style. I made sure to keep the generator behind the car so you couldn’t see it in the shot, and I used the Portable LED on a light stand to act as a keylight for J.A.I.

We got a few shots here, I got a wide shot and then I switched lenses to my Sigma 30mm f1.4 and got some close ups to cut between in editing. I color graded the whole video in Premiere Pro as well I’ve been really impressed with the color develop module as they’ve released updates it’s just gotten way better. I made most of the effects in this video with after effects I’ve definitely been sleeping on it but I’m glad I started utilizing AE into my workflow.

J.A.I. Stargazing Music Video

Yo yoooo so I had the chance to shoot for an artist down in Columbus that goes by the name J.A.I. He’s got some dope music and we ended up shooting a visual for one of his tracks called “Stargazing”. It’s an amazing track with solid flow and a lot of talent behind it so if you haven’t had a chance to check it out yet watch it below!

I am super proud of this video even though we only had two hours to shoot it. My buddy Scene ended up comin’ through as well and shot some BTS but that’ll be a for another blog. This whole shoot was an awesome time with good people and good vibes and I hope you guys enjoy the visual.

Check out J.A.I. on IG @j.a.i614 he’s a really talented artist and we’ll definitely have more visuals out in the future!

Y-S 1 Minute Freestyle

I’ve been working with my boy Y-S for over a year now and it’s always awesome working together. We just shot a promo video recently and we decided to shoot a short freestyle clip for a song on his album More Musix called “Pray 4 Me”. Check it below

We shot this in my neck of the woods in Ashland at an abandoned building that’s right next to my house. I love the look of this building as well as the lighting. The windows just make for beautiful light and the atmosphere really sets the mood for the video.. You can expect the promo video to have a similar feel to the freestyle when it drops we worked hard on it and I’m really excited for you guys to check it out.

Push Yourself…

Y-S is hard at work and you guys should be looking forward to his next release, I’m not sure when or what he’s got coming but he assured me he’s grindin’. Everytime we shoot together I try and push myself and try new things and on this shoot I just really wanted to take my time. That’s a very important thing to do sometimes. I’ve really been trying to be the absolute best that I can be and taking your time can make such a significant difference in the quality of your work. I can’t wait for you guys to see what I got coming in the future and remember if you would like to book a shoot go ahead and hit me up via the contact page!

Chanze (Left)

Oddzci (Middle)

Trilla.G (Right)

Shooting with these 3 was a blast. The first location we went to was a pink abandoned trap house near the west side. It was really cloudy (which I love fr) and the light was super soft which made for some amazing photos. We did a small photoshoot here before we went on to shoot a video to a single off of their latest proect .WAV called “Live”. Me and Chanze met months ago talking about linking up and I’m glad it finally happened. I really tried to push myself on this video and try new things and i think overall I’m pretty satisfied, as always there are things that maybe I didn’t think of or whatever but that' just turns into a learning experience then.

Live

We really tried to tell a story in this video and I made decisions creatively that ended up prolonging the shoot, but it was worth it. It’s always worth it to take your time and make sure you get it right.

The video is really hype with eerie vibes. I used more effects in this video than I usually do just because I thought it would benefit the video and I wanted to see what effects I could come up with on my own, and it was super f***ing fun. We had a character get robbed at one point and so I also shot my second action sequence ever I can’t wait for you guys to see it! I also experimented a lot with the audio during that scene (the music cuts out). I love trying new things and I think you can tell I did that in this shoot.

These photos are definitely a personal favorite of mine I love the pink color palette we used as well as the style that these guys had. As far as camera gear goes I use a Panasonic GH4 and I had a 20mm f1.7 and a 30mm f1.4 on me. I tried to use the environment as much as possible to help me in creating depth and an interesting composition. I like putting different things in the foreground such as leaves or glass, etc. to frame my subject. I think it just draws your eyes where they need to be in a more interesting way.s
